326A Hegeman Register of Wilmot Hotel 1892-1896

This book is handwritten in pencil/ink by an unknown person but presumably a Hegeman (John and Louis) or employee at what we know to be the STAGESTOP (2014 and records expenses/purchased and what is presumed to be receipts of the HOTEL. As a note - one dollar ( 1913 conversion) to 2014 is apx $25). The pages were prenumbered. Blank Pages were not included in the processing but there were loose pages which have been added to the booklet. Researchers should review each page for names that are occasionally entered in the ledger and for special notes made by the owner. There are many entries for personalities of the community. The book includes records of names, services, materials and charges. Many purchases define the exact measure and cost. It is often a very hard ledger to read and is in pencil There are entries for labor done at the business, including ice labor. Excerpts: -COOLER: Mathews Lumber for cooler $9.81 on 05 13 1897, Telegram for lumber at .25; Lumber from Antioch 112.00, Rooney Dave Hauling stone $700, Rooney Dave for lumber and Ed O'Malley for work, George Dean digging trench, R M Shotliff 1 day and mason work but no entry for the masonry, 40# 1 d Nails at $.02 for $80.00 and more lumber from Antioch $27.85 June 8 1897, Hauling the lumber Rooney $1 .50, R Shotliff for more Masonry work $8.50 and a screen door for $2.25 -On 2-2-1897 Mike Schlax, did repairs at $.60, paid $3.75 for Morgan Ice Saw and used Runkels horse and gave $1. Each to FRED Pagel, Billy Sill, Jim Madden, George Dowell, Ed O'Malley, Henry Boaldon, Billy Anderson and Young Dan Maden at $.75, put in 10 tiers of ice in the House at 12 inches thick. - F J Sabin, Billy Mattern Chas Pagel, John O'Malley Ed 0 Malley George Dowell work Ice 01 29 1896 and get $1.00 each.
