old man in black
The Old Man in Black in the Combat Cap
The sun came up orange and bright,
And the Old Church Had made it thru the night.
Some thought it's walls would crumble and crack,
After it was attended again by the Old Man in Black.
He sit's by himself and looks ahead,
And trys to absorb what the Pastor said.
At times his mind slips to a prior day,
When he listened to the Chaplin pray.
On a shell pocked hill in northern Luzon,
As he sat behind his water cooled gun.
He thinks of days on the farm his childhood dream,
And the November day when he wed the Queen.
Thoughts of his girls brings a smile of joy,
But a tear falls as he remembers his boy.
The Service ends and he stands to leave,
He pauses to wipe the tear on his sleeve.
He acknowledges friends and shakes some hands,
Walks down the steps and the Old Church still stands.
He smiles and he knows that he'll be back,
The Old Man in Black in the Combat Cap.

St. Peqav's Dav
It's eariy Mon~day morning and the telrphone rings,
it's just Peggy calling, She'!! be here to do her thing.
She a arrives and we make small talk,
and she brings a bag of treats
Then she goes into the bedroom,
and makes the bed with nice clean sheets.
She vacuums, sweeps, and straightns up
and then she stops to dust.
Thengoes out to the kitchen,
And rids the sink of rust
She mops the floor and the back steps.
and makes the bathroom shine.
Announces she's about to !eave
The o!d house is looking fine.
If ever I'm elected Pope,
the first order of the day,
Will proclaim that every Monday,
Be called St Peggy's Day.

VVisconsin
Between the Mighty Mississippi,
And the Queen of the Great Lakes.
Lie's the greatest piece of Real Estate,
it's calied the Badger State~
The inhabitants wear cheeseheads,
And dress in Packer gold and green.
And if you own a share of Packer stock,
You have lived a lifelong drearn.
We are constantly invaded,
FlatJanders jump the southern border.
And even Iowa Hawkeyes add to the disorder.
A bunch of Scandahuvions call Minnesota home,
And their beloved Vikeings ,
Play in the Hubert HumphiY Dome.
Yooper's from the north,
jump the Michigan line to play.
They always stand out in a crowd
You can hear them say Sey Hey.
Our citys all have funny names,
They come from indians, French, and Danes.
We even have a Germantown,
Can't guess from where that came.
Vvnen i get to Heaven;
I know things will be just grand.
But can they be any better~
Than America's Dairyland

THe Old Man
This is the story of and old and mixed up man,
A former Combat Infantryman the scourge of all Japan.
He came home, wed, started farming,
And the ft_.rture was real bright.
They raised a fine young farnHy~
Things were really going right.
Then the kids iefi one by one,
To make alife of their own,
And the Queen got called to Heaven,
And he sits at home aione.
He sits hour after hour,
L~~king
at a computer screen,
He prints Religious Letters, and offcolor jokes,
That VJould make a preacher screem_
He listens to country music and even some bluegrass,
Bought himself a black wardrobe,
So he'd look like Johnny Cash.
At times he thinks he's Santa,
and gives presants for most anything.
!t's his form of tmtertainment,
Just don"t ask him to dance or s;ng.
He's got a new girlfriend. areally classy dish.
But she's 74yrs his younger, and only speaks Spanish.
He's madegoing to church quite regular,
It makes the old building creak and gro\vn,
Now he's really hit rock bottem,
He's started writing poems.
VVhat caused him to hit the rocks'
He sits and t.I-Jinks aloud.
lt must be the VVtlmot Cafe:
\~'here he joined that younger crowd.
