The Science Club has a membership of about forty people this year.
We once again sold candy to raise money for awards in the science club for our annual
science fair.
The science fair, once again, was very successful and all the science club members exhibited very good projects.
To widen our knowledge of science we took two trips this year, one to the Museum of
Science and Industry and the other to the Planetarium in Chicago. We learned much from
these trips and hope to do it again next year.
The officers elected this year are: President, George Vlahakis, Vice-President, Darrell
Pofahl, Secretary-Treasurer, Judy Erickson.
We would like to thank Mr. Alby, 1v1r. Heyse, and Mr. Ruprecht for their time and assistance to make this a successful year.

G. A.A.
The main purpose of the G. A. A, is to promote interest in sports and was thus
organized for the girls in Central High School who like to participate in these sports.
This year's G. A.A. consists of about 150 girls. Our officers for this year were:
President - Judy Erickson
Vice- President - Betty Magwitz
Secretary - Dianne Reiter
Treasurer - Karen !v1uelheisen
Our money-making projects were selling sweat shirts and having a record hop.
This money is used to give awards to the girls that have earned a sufficient number of
points each year.
Once again we had a Mother-Daughter sport night and the G.A.A.er's went
swimming. Miss Leeftink, our advisor, took the seniors on an overnight camping. All
were a lot of fun and were very successful.
We would like to thank Miss Leeftink for time and effort to make this a successful
year. THANK YOU, l'vliss Leeftink.

The Pep Club, under the direction of Miss Frances Murphy, got into full swing
this year with 150 members. The Club promotes activities which tend to create and
help maintain school spirit.
Posters are made by the members and are placed in the
hallways and on lockers a day or so before games. Articles such as pins, pom poms,
etc., are sold before and during games.
This year a "Snowball" Dance was held on
December 15, to raise money for awards at the end of the year.
Pep Club activity tickets admitting students to games were sold at a reduced
rate this year, but it did not seem to be in much demand.
We hope to give it
another try.
We, at Central, are proud of our Pep Club members and for their help in keeping up Central's School Spirit.

the map. There were forty-one students that went out for forensics.
That squad
placed second in league competition at Clinton with four of our contestants going
on to compete in the district contest at Whitewater. Those four who received "A"
ratings at the league contest were: Jeanne Day, Dorothy Sager, Bruce Benedict,

The lights were turned down low, and faint strains of music could be heard from a distance. It
was a big night at Central High School--the night of the Junior Prom "Oriental Splendor."
As the couples entered the gymnasium, they forgot all troubles for they had suddenly found them-
selves in an enchanting oriental garden.
76
The drifting sounds of music for the festive prom were provided by the Tophatters Orchestra.
Soon all eyes were focused on the king and queen being escorted to their throne in a Japanese
rickshaw. A hush fell over the crowd as Virgil Gentz, King of the 1960 Junior Prom crowned Jim
Hofer, King of the 1961 Junior Prom. Then King Jim crowned Dianne Reiter as his queen.
After the crowning, the new King and Queen along with last year's King and Queen, Virgil
Gnetz and Betsey Wilson, led the court in the Royal Dance.
Members of the Royal Court were: Senior- Martha Eberle and her escort, Robert Griesmaier;
Juniors-Mary Gleason and her escort, Jan Jahnsen; and Laura Altergott and her escort, Robert Hansen;
Sophomore-Gail Wedman and her escort, Fred Keppler; Freshman-Marilyn Weirzgac and her escort,
Robert Nelson.
All too soon it was time to leave this "Oriental Splendor" and return to the world of reality. But
many times we will look back on this night and all its memories.
Many thanks are extended at this time to our advisors, Mrs. Getka and Mr. Becker, for their untiring efforts and assistance. Without their help, our prom wouldn't have been the huge success it was.

If we seem a little enthusiastic on our recording of the achievements of the Falcon basketball
team for this year, we believe that we have a right to be. They have written new records of every
kind into our school's athletic history. Captain Dan Yates broke the old record for points in a single
game, our over-all record is the best ever, our margins of victory are the biggest ever, and we are
the UNDEFEATED CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS. We scored a total of 1461 points, the largest
margin ever- .. it is an average of 69.5 per game. This team had depth in player ability as was
proven again and again as Coach Grams pulled his regulars out in order to keep the score down, only
to have the reserves go in and keep the lead piling up. Next year's team will do their best we are
sure, but they will miss the performance of these remarkable seniors: Dan Yates who lead our conference in scoring; John Zeihen who was Central's number two scoring punch; Glenn Schulz who was
our dynamite on defense; Darrell Pofahl who was our 6-4 center; and Jim Hofer who was always there
on the rebounds. These five could never have done it, however, without the help of the others who
were John Lentz, George Rodis, Ralph Remus, Bob Dougherty, Ken Halbach, Ken Daniels, Tom
Cacini, Jim Anderson, Dick Weis, and Bob Hofer. We look for another good team in 1963 and are
certainly proud to write the record of this year's team under the leadership of Coaches Grams and
Terry into our yearbook.

This year saw the introduction of another major sport at Central High. Coach Baltus and his men
wrote a very enviable record into the events of our school as their won and loss schedule will show.
Warren Lichthardt was chosen as captain and Daniel Schoenbeck was voted most valuable player
since he placed second in the Kenosha Regionals and second at the Milwaukee Sectionals. He also
qualified for State competition and won two of three events at Madison.
The senior members, Warren Lichthardt, Daniel Schoenbeck, Keith Gentz, George Vlahakis,
and Nick Daniels will be greatly missed next year but a fine nucleus of major award winners is re~
turning in Fred Keppler, John Bloss, James Durkin, Don Milner, Frank Kempf, Harvey Meinen and
George Schlagel.

KNEELING: Diane Schroeder, Anita Daniels, Captain; Judy Halbach, STANDING: Kathy Curavo,
Nadine Meir, Diane Ferris.
Once again the Central High School Cheerleaders enjoyed a rewarding year of
leading the crowd and the basketball and football teams on to victory in a very sue~
cessful season.
The cheerleaders went to Plateville Cheer leading Clinic this summer where they
learned many new cheers, yells, and porn porn routines. This along with captain, Dianne Reiter, made this year's varsity squad one of the best.
Every year the "Silver C" is given out to the best outstanding cheerleader. This
is given on the basis of ability, pep, and contribution to the cheerleading squad.
This year the "Silver C" was given to Judy Erickson.
