SCHOOL JOINS IN THE LITURGIES

Thanksgiving, Christmas and so
on. Along with Father Dave and
Father Mike, the students get the
chance to participate in the Mass,

THE STING OF 1982
St. Joe's was the setting for a good time on November sixth,
where the annual Sting was held. The night was filled with
many types of emenainment to raise money for the costs of
education and tuition. Among these were games of chance,
auctions, and dinner being served in the gymnasium. It was
an enjoyable time for all who participated.

THOSE WHO WERE EARNEST
c. Joseph 's Theater Department presented "The Importance of
Being Earnest" on December 16, 17, and 18. The plot was extremely complicated and somewhat witty, with the lead role being played
by Wanye Burns. The scenery, as well as direction, make-up, and
lights were very realistic.

This year Winter Formal was a little different. It began
with a week full of fun. Some of the activities included were

TO MY GROWN-UP SON
My hands were busy through the day
I didn't have much time to play
The little games you asked me to.
I didn't have much time for you.
I'd wash your clothes, I'd sew and cook,
But when you'd bring your picture book
And ask me please to share your fun,
I'd say: ''A little later, son.''
I'd tuck you in all safe at night
and hear your prayers, turn out the light,
Then tiptoe softly; to the door ...
I wish I'd stayed a minute more.
For life is short, the years rush past ...
A little boy grows up fast.
No longer is he at your siae,
His precious secrets to confide.
The picture books are p away,
There are no longer games to play,
No good-night kiss, no prayers to hear ...
'}:hat all belongs to yesteryear.
My hands, once busy, now are still.
The days are long and hard to fill.
I wish I could go back and do
The little things you asked me to.

This year's musical "Oliver" shared many first experiences
such as a new Director, Miss Laura Landowski, and a ne"'
Choral Director, Mr. Scott Seidl, and a new
Choreographer/Costume Coordinator Maria Schlenker.
Auditions turned out 147 srudents leaving a cast of 69, the orchestra included 21 and the crew 26. Major technical undertakings were the building of "London Bridge," the construction of
the ramp (street), and a multitude of special lighting effects.
Another new approach was entering and exiting through the
auditorium rather than the stage sides. The costuming and
make-up was all centered around being ragged and dirty. The
main emphasis of blocking and choreography was to have fun!
