SPIRIT IN ACTION

" Get up and get going! Where's that good old school
spirit , gang ?"
I 'll tell you where it is ..
It 's in the halls just before a big game. A feeling
of excitement flashes from one student to the next ...
It 's in the kid who had two tests the next day but
got out and worked on the float anyway
It 's caring: how the team does , where your
grades are , how the school looks , what students from
other schools think . ..
. . . It 's a school and community pulling together for
the best education for their students. We knew it , too!
We were proud to be part of Bradford High School.

HOMECOMING
October 8, 1966
While cheer from the pep assembly echoed through
the halls, "Beat Central" and "Go Red Devils" signs
were being tacked up everywhere. A large crowd was
on hand at the Lakefront Stadium to watch our team
beat Madison Central 27-13. The highlight of the
game came at halftime as the queen and her court
were announced. At the dance, we had a chance to
meet the royalty and see the queen crowned. All this
added up to a very memorable Homecoming.

Tremper, despite being penalized 12 times for 110 yards . The first time the
Red Devils got the ball , they went (walked) in for a touchdown . The lone
Tremper touchdown, however , came in the final quarter after Bradford had
33 points on the scoreboard. As usual , linemen Paul Kastman , John Zimmerman, Joe Paricka and Chris Pivovar dominated the game.

INTRODUCING
BUDDY
DEFRANCO
December 7, 1966
Buddy De Franco, who has appeared
on the Tonight Show, came to Kenosha
this year. The mellow tones of his clarinet filled the Bradford auditorium. The
band, directed by Mr . Nelson , accompanied him on some arrangements.
Those who saw Buddy perform , will
long remember him as a fine artist.

BRADFORD TRAMPLES
TREMPER
D ecember 16, 1966
In their first meeting , Bradford annihalated
Tremper 's fizzling attack and won by a score of
78 -56. At half-time however , we were winning
by only one point. Good defensive play on Bradford's part kept them in the lead in the second
half.
In the second game, the Trojan ' s effort was
again wasted as Bradford won by one point.
Bradford led through most of the game but in the
last few minutes Tremper tied it up. The gym
shook with the cheering of students , as Dick
Laba made the winning basket in the final three
seconds.

OUR PRINCIPAL
Dear Class of 1967:
You graduate this year into a world more confused than usual , and we ' ll tell you
at the ceremony that it 's your now to run. Of course, we don 't really intend to
hand over the keys and let you drive right now. Charles DeGaulle, Harold Wilon, Mao Tse-tung are no youth corps, and neither President Johnson nor Everette Dirksen could be considered exactly boys. You have a little time - maybe
twenty years - to get ready. If you want the world to run your way, someday you
will have to run it. The real training begins now. This is the Great Drivers '
Education Cour e.
Good luck. May you be ready to take the wheel when your name is ca lled for the
test.

The trength of this year' ba ketball team laid in defense,
speed, hustling pride and spirit, and exceptional teamwork. The bigge t problem was the lack of height. The
team wa much better than their record of nine wins and
nine losses indicates. In many of the games, they were
only a few point away from victory, and twice, they came
terribley clo e to upsetting Park , which ranked third in
the tate. Dick Laba (all Big Eight; Honorable :Vlention,
.\II American) wa e sential to the team. He wa a high
corer and played an out landing defen i\ e game. Aubrey
.\nderson, with his speed and agility, wa unsurpassed at
dribbling. Other \·aluable player were Ed Wojnicz, Mike
Lane , John Zimmerman and reserve te\'e Gemmell . Al
Scott, who ha already proved him elf as a good basketball player , and Tony Chapman are two very promi ing
JUniors.

OUR JUNIOR CLASS
The juniors did a great deal to contribute to the success
of our chool. With their pep and energy they heightened chool spirit. The sen ice club had many of these
students helpine; them throughout the school year.
Some of the boys added to Bradford 's fine reputation is
sports and there were various other individuals who
won honors in debate, Science Fair and music.
160
The Junior Class engaged in many activities. They
planned , organized and put forth Prom, the biggest
event of the year. Besides this, they successfully held a
bake sale at Wards and a candy sale. The officers were
always busy with new ideas and projects. To them is
left the job of running the school in "68" and we anticipate a good year.

OUR SOPHOMORE CLASS
•
Although the sophomores were just the little people of
Bradford, surrounded by six foot guys in letter jackets,
they proved themselves in academic, athletic, and extracurricular fields. At first they felt scared and out of
place but as the year progressed, they became a part of
the school. When football season arrived, they learned
how to freeze along with everyone else while madly
cheering for our team at the Lakefront Stadium and
170
they took in many Friday night dances. The boys
looked forward to going out for sports and being on the
team. The girls looked forward to their first Prom and
all the excitement that goes along with it. All the upperclassmen will agree that this year's sophomores
added much to the whole year. The class of "69",
being full of fun and new ideas , was a class to be proud
of.
