The Bradford Red Devils football
team had an outstanding and
historic season with the final
record of 11-2 reaching the semifinals. They fell just one game
short from playing in the state
championship game. The 2010
Bradford Red Devils will always
be remembered by making it
farther than any other team has in
the past. To add even more glory,
part of the joy of getting to where
they got came as a result of
trouncing their rivals, the Tremper
Trojans. The senior class players
were successful with a 6-0 record
against Tremper at every level
{Freshman, JV, Varsity), with a
combined score of 258-56. They
were a part of an undefeated
conference championship last
year, and only lost 4 total games
of their 42 games played (42-4).
Though it did not end how
everyone envisioned, the team felt
they did their best and were
rewarded for it. -Vonte Jackson &
Luke Meier

Surprisingly, the MVPs were not even players.
The team chose these two individuals not only
for their time sacrificed but also for the hard
work they put into the team. The} helped
make sure the players were hydrated, helped
the coaches set up the field, and performed
difficult tasks most people wouldn't do. Thank
you to the two guys who are out there making
our lives easier!

Question/Answer
Bump it, set it, and spike it! These
were the words that turned into
actions for the boys volleyball
team. Despite some struggles in a
few matches, the team played
admirably and worked well
together. "I'm still having fun and
I like playing on the team whether
we win or lose," said Tyler
Grymkoski. Teammates that had
experience in playing through
difficult conditions, whether it be
injuries, a difficult opponent. or
just not feeling on top of their
game, provided leadership
throughout the season. With a
tough conference schedule, the
varsity team knew they would
have to play their best volleyball
in order to win matches.
If a player was struggling during a
match or practice, the group and
coaches would do all they could to
encourage strategic playing.
"The coaches did a great job this
year teaching techniques and
mechanics-it was fun," said Larry
Tostrud

Slapping highfives and
murmuring "good luck" to
their opponents, the junior
varsity team keeps their eyes
on the prize before the match.
With wild cheers from the
supporting crowd, the boys are
pumped for the start of the
match on September 27, 2010.
"WHAT DO YOU LIKE BETTER-A
HOME GAME OR AN AW AY GAME?"
Sophomore varsity
weak ide player
George Shehadeh
ex pl ai n why he

friends and family
cheering you on just
makes you want to
pl ay harder and better.
When you get a kill ,
it's the best thing to
celebrate with your
team and to have
friends in the stand, ."
Senior ustin Day shared the honor with fellow
senior Larry Tostrud as MPV's. Dustin-with
his superstitious habit of taping fingers
(pictured) most enjoyed the home games during
the season because of the home crowd. Larry
has had a love for the fast- paced game since
elementary school. He "couldn't ask for a
better group of guys or coaches. and will miss
the team and Bradford volleyball."
"Volleyball is a great sport; it's not
always the easiest to play, but it's
worth working hard for. " Bradley Barnes

WHAT IS THE SCARIEST THING
THAT HAPPENED TO YOU PLAYING
VOLLEYBALL??
You know how
you hate it when
people see you
hurt? Well,
freshman Laura
Spair thought she
broke her ankle
during an
important game.
Luckily, there was
no break; she only
rolled it.
In the third match with 30
econds left to go, our Lady
Devils scored on the Oak Creek
Knights to win the game. This
date, Augu t 28th, was a very
exciting day for the Bradford
girls volleyball players.
It was a great season for girls
volleyball! "This was the best team
experience I've ever had," said
junior Amber Havey. She felt this
way because, once again, over the
course of the season the girls were
like a big family. After the amazing
win against the St. Joes Lancers on
August 31st, junior Madison
Geliche said, "Winners never quit,
and quitters never win." Part of
their success was that they
practiced for hours at least four
days a week. "Practice is the effort
that makes winning possible.
When the girls were at practice
they also had fun playing a sport
that they love," said sophomore
Alyssa Bridleman. The girls really
were dedicated. Their best game
was played on September 18,
against Saint Mary Central. The
score was 2-0 with 25-13 as the first
match score, and 25-12 as the
second match score! To top it all
off, they beat Saint Mary Central in
40 minutes timing. Congrats to our
Ladies for making the season
successful!
-Bri Santelli & Ellie Wathen
COACH'S Corner
This year's girls tennis team
had a phenomenal season!
Winning second place in
conference with a 6-1 record,
these girls showed what they
were capable of. Through all
of their bus rides, dinners,
and Jersey Shore gettogethers they became a
family, and ultimately won
as a team. But whether they
beat another school or lost
big time, they kept their
heads up and played through
the next match. With this
attitude, junior Karyn
Guttormsen made it all the
way to state. After winning 29
straight matches she WON
the entire meet! Her hard
work finally paid off for a win
that she "waited a long time
for." -Jessica Utterbach &Alex Perrone

learned more from
a loss because after one.

On September second, playing against
Racine Horlick, the varsity soccer team
takes a minute to celebrate yet another
successful '~in. As they head back on to
the field, the boys move towards the
other team to shake hands.
The varsity soccer team's season
blew away the minds of fans,
coaches, and opponents. They made
it to state with twenty-five wins, one
loss, and one tie. In fact, it was the
first time in many years that the
boys did this well. The reason they
made it as far as they did was
because of their closenes: "Our
team is a brotherhood that is built
around confidence, but above all,
heart. I see it in everyone's eyes
that we don't accept anything but
glory and success," said Midfielder,
Angel Camacho. Landon Luzar,
midfielder, shared this opinion:
"When you put on this jersey, you
aren't just playing for yourselfyou're playing for the other ten guys
out there. That's when you know you
are more than a team. We consider
ourselves a family, and that is the
best feeling a teammate can have."

The boys cross country team had an excellent season. With obvious pride, coach Aslakson said, '1hey had a winning percentage of .776% which is the 6th best record since
1976. The team did an awesome job." How did this come to be? Well, all of the members had wonderful times that added up to the great season that they had. First, the
Most Valuable Player was Michael Riuo who ended his season with 33 points. The most improved were Taylor Bell and Erlan Wheeler. The Boys Team Runner Award was
given to Justin Kreuser and Mason Waynes. In addition, The Boys Outstanding Freshman was Clayton Fellman. Also, William Wortley was awarded the Boys SEC Scholar/
Athlete. Lastly, making his team very proud of him was Michael Riuo who was awarded the State Plaque. With all of this obvious talent, and the hard work the entire team
put into the season, it is no wonder that the coach and boys were proud of their year of running.

The team had an especially successful year with a record well over 500 with seventy wins and forty-seven loses which is seven more wins than last year, and a
whopping twelve less losses than the previous year. As the season went on the girls kept getting better and better. Even Bradford's fastest runner, senior
Abigail Bullmore outdid herself by placing 43rd at state out of 190 girls from all over Wisconsin. Abby summed up her four years as a Bradford runner by
saying this: "I really enjoyed building relationships with my team. I learned perseverance and how it feels to work really hard for something." Bullmore wasn 't
the only standout runner though. Junior Tori Matayosian, with a best time of 15:02 in her 4000 meter run felt this way about her season:" The more I run
the more accomplised I feel, and the faster I run the better I feel about myself."

Who said girls can't hit? The Lady Red Devils Girls' Golf Team of 201 O had a learning season. With some hard-earned
wins under their belt, the team knews how it felt to win after having the drive to compete. Because of this, the girls "will
no longer be nervous on the tee or during matches," junior Sofia Calderwood said. On a lighter note, junior Jennifer
Burnett said that the winning season also had its fun side: "At one point or another during the season, I think at least half
of the girls would fall off of the cart with their golf bags flying. Either the driver was going too fast, or the girl holding on
to the pole on the back of the cart would lose her grip. We all laughed about that. Tea Price and Riley Smith

The games were tough. The girls
proved to their teammates, coaches,

not have won many of their games,
they played with all they had. The
girls as a team showed great
determination as well as teamwork.
"Although our record didn't show it,
we worked very hard and had a fun
season together!," said forward,
Trina Capelli. Madison Geliche, a
guard on the team, shared this
sentiment: "Even though this year
was rough at times, we always
made the best of it. If it weren't for
the other girls and coaches, I don't
know if we would've kept our heads
up the whole season." Amanda
Skalitzsky summed up the season
this way: We may not have been the

each game we could always say we
gave it everything we had." Having
motivation and determination raised
confidence and encouraged the girls

The above quote pretty much sums
up what the basketball team did
this season in every practice,
scrimmage, and game. They were
persistent in their goal to use their
best attributes against every team
they played and did an awesome
job over the course of many games.
Coach James commented on the
team, noting that they had the most
wins in school history with a record
of 20-5-these include key wins
against Nicolet, Racine Case, and
our cross-town rival, Tremper. In
the conference games, the record
was 11-3, which showed
outstanding effort. The guys
finished the season winning their

" We sh uld have done be er than what we did," seemed to be the dominant response from most of the hockey team

The Kenosha Gymnastics team had a hot start to their season. They placed in the top five of every meet until conference.
The two members on the team from Bradford were senior Lindsey Maier and freshman Brooke Villella. Some of Lindsey's
many accomplishments in her final year of high school gymnastics included placing in the top five of every meet and
earning the highest floor score in the state. Her season was cut short, however, when she tore her ACL, MCL, and
meniscus at conference: "I wanted to have a memorable end to my senior year by going to state and doing well. It was
really devastating that I got hurt two weeks before and couldn 't go or help the team get there," said Li ndsey. Dewey Warner

Girl's Varsity
Coaching for a state

intense. The girls are

the fans are excited. I
told the girls to take the

After that,

tournament at GRC. The team qualified
for state and placed THIRD in the
tournament! This is the second time in
three years that the girl's team placed
top three in the state.
Bradford Bowling is nothing to joke
around about. The boy's varsity,
boy's JV, and girl's varsity team
were serious in 2011. With great
young talent and experienced
coaches, Bradford kept the
distinction of having one of the top
bowling programs in Wisconsin.
The boy's varsity was ranked the
third best team in the state and
placed sixth in the State
Tournament. The girl's team was
ranked top ten all year and was an
underdog in the State Tournament.
Under the coaching of A.J. Hedges,
Tori Hedges's dad, the girl's team
took third place in the state! Along
with the teams, Tori Hedges, Josh
Feekes, Ryan Schroeder. Ryne
Greenwood. and Riley Smith were
individual qualifiers. Josh. Ryan,
Ryne, and Riley were semi finalists
in the tournament. Greenwood and
Smith tied for 7th. Feekes took 12th,
and Schroeder finished 14th in the
state. "This was a great year for
Bradford Bow ling; next year will be
even better" said junior Ryne
Greenwood.

The wrestl ing red devils had a -.uccessful season. Although the season was a tough one, the Bradford wrestlers ended their successful season with a record of 12 wins

had a bitterswee season due to the retirement of their beloved coach. What started out as a small summer job,
turned in o a 37-year coaching career for coach Franz Feldmeier. He retired at the end of the season to be with his family
and to start writing more. Franz was especially proud of his last team for taking 5th in the conference and 6th at
sectionals. Most importantly though, his boys took 17th out of 46 teams at State Finals. He also instructed four
Conferenc

we're a family" will stay in the minds of his wimmers for years to come.

The 2011 girls soccer team was
determined to keep up their
winning ways. They were 11-8-7
and looked to win conference.
These girls played their hearts out
and had their goal set on winning
state. They only lost one
conference game and hoped it
would stay that way. Coach Naylor
had a blast coaching the girls and
really applauded the hardwork
they put in. Led by their four
senior captains, Jessenia Arroyo,
Jessica Davison, Brittany Rizzo and
Andrea Bowhall, they looked to
keep up the winning. Jessenia
Arroyo said "After losing a lot of
seniors last year, this year's young
team has really stepped up and
has worked extremely hard to
maintain this soccer team's
reputation from the past." This
year for state the girls earned a
three seeding. They looked
forward to the playoffs in hopes of
advancing to the championship.

jogging througli the fi ish line...
To say the 2011 Boys Track team had a successful season would be an understatement. The amount of athleticism this group had was off the charts and
arguably the most talented in the state. Boasting multiple Division-I pro pects, the Red Devils took control of events from the start and sen a strong
message to nery opponent they faced that they were there to win. Even after losing multiple State contenders from last sea on, they formed three of the
fas test rela) team<, in the state: the 4xl00, 4x200, and 4x800, as '~ell as some incredible indhidual performances. By the end of the season, this could quite
possibly be one of the most decorated Bradford track teams in school history. Thanks to retiring Coach Aslaksen and Coach Vanderhoef, ome fir ·t-year
runners were developed into instant stars. Over the past few years, it has been proven that Kenosha Bradford will be on the podeum at the end of the

Due to absolutely miserable weather (sixteen consecutive days of rain in April) the girls on the track team had
to "man up." The first few outdoor meets were cold, windy, and on-and-off rain, so the girls brought extra pairs
of gloves, clothes, and blankets to keep warm. Most of the of the team did much better than they did last yearit had been a while since the girls went to sectionals. More underclass students joined track than seniors; a
freshman, Annamarie Lewer from ITA, qualified for state, and another three girls went to state.

The Rowdy Report staff is a group of highly
creative writers who report on the many
different cultures of Bradford High School
and it's activities. It is a small organization
that works hard to always make sure they
have their topic ready at the deadline. Even
with the new addition of the web version of

work on time and love doing it. "I think what
makes this class so fun is how all of us get

senior Jacob Perotta said. Junior Dewey

What W6 aol
Spanish Club had an extraordinary first
year! They participated in a Valentine's
Day fundraiser and did a Dr.Seuss Read-In
at the Chavez Learning Center. Every
meeting waa full of energy and
enthusiasm. But the events weren't all that
were fun-even the meetings were good
times for the members. Spanish games,
like Enano Gigante and Loteria, and
movies in Spanish were what kept the
Spanish Club fun. Some meetings were
even held at the Spanish restaurant, Los
Compadres where new food was tried and
new frierids were made. All together they

Students at Bradford believe that
fieldtrips are "few and far between." This
may be the case, but both teachers and
students agree that the relaxed
atmosphere while on them promotes
bonding between teacher and student
and between student and student.
Fieldtrips allow students to learn while
having fun, which is something that just
can't be achieved very often in the
classroom setting (on these two pages,
notice all of the smiles).

Adventures in French Cuisine...
Froggy's is a French
Restaurant on the north
side of Chicago. Students
take a bus there at least
twice a year. There, the
students dine on a threecourse dinner of French
food and dessert (many
of which are almost too
rich to eat). Students get
the experience of eating
French cuisine-escargot
(yuck-snails!). They are
also able to practice thei•
French while ordering
food from the Frenchspeaking wait staff.
