Remember • • •
last spring when we started planning the exchange?
. . . the day they drew the names and there were consolations and
conaratulations?
how we wondered what they'd be like?
And then
. the day they arrived and we welcomed them
and got our first really good look at them in school Monday?
Griffin, oherg, Croom, Leatherhury, Grandy, Tarlton, LylP, Jlrnry, McLran, Terry, \! ills, Whitepunner, _\folpus, Park, Willisson, Shrop, hire, \liss Baxter, Atkinson, Bodden, Da,is, Da'i',
Delchamps, Duke, DuValle, Frazer, Easterlinµ:, harpe, Gramlinp:, \1r. Da"son, J>o"rll.
And then began the tours and
of course
the parties
!
After two glorious weeks. we said " Good-bye"
Remember?
But then came February and some of us arrived in Mobile
Remember how we couldn't get over the weather?
Yes, we'll always remember Mardi Gras
and New Orleans ...
. . . the parades and
beautiful Murphy.
We'll remember Belingrath Gardens, the
GM &O Lodge, and
all of our wonderful
tours . . .
. . . and, of course,
we'll always remember the knights.
We'll remember the
palms and the azaleas and the Gulf,
but most of all, we'll
always remember ..
. . all the wonderful people we met and the lifelong friends we made!

On Frida) e\ ening. April 21, 1953, it rained. How
do \\e remember'? lt \\as the night of the annual
Junior Prom, and a wonderful night it wa~, in spite
of the \veather. A.fter the usual round of coketail
parties. e\-eryone gathered in the miraculously transformed gym
there·s no disputing the fact that no
junior class ever did a heller job
but that \\as
just the beginning. At midnight we all went to the
Kenosha Theatre \\here we saw a premiere per·
formance of Meet .Ue at the Fair, romplete with
searchlights, photographers, and celebrities, and
then moved to the Eagles' Club and all the lm.uries
of a night club, eYen a floor show, food, and door
prize , followed by a grand breakfast, sen ed by
our wonderful hosts, the Ki\\anis Club. We wrnt
home by dawn's not so early light, with pleasant
memorie of the best prom ever, thanks to the
Juniors. the Kiwanians, and the two hard working
advisors, '\Ir. Hansen and '.\Ir. Freeberg.

KENOSHA INDUSTRY
Products of Kenosha industry are sold throughout the United States
and the world, thus creating the jobs and pay checks necessary to the
growth and development of the community.
Kenosha has 42 manufacturing concerns with a total employment m
excess of 18,000 and an annual pay roll of approximately $60 million.
Two out of every three wage earners of Kenosha are employed m
the manufacturing plants and their pay checks are shared directly or indirectly by everyone in the community as each pay roll dollar circulates
widely, turning over approximately seven times as it moves through the
channels of trade.
Behind Kenosha's industrial pay checks are the knowledge and skills of
the community's industrial employees and the courage and vision of the men
and women who invested the money necessary to provide plant facilities
and machinery. The Kenosha industrial family, working in harmony with
business and professional people, educators, the clergy, and other citizens
as individuals and as groups, have built a community which is noted throughout the nation as a good example of the accomplishments possible under
our present free and enterprising American way of doing business.

HOW TO WRITE A SUCCESS STORY
Let's start with a brief description of the Hero of your Success Story.
He or she can be a machine operator, a housewife, a store clerk, a teacher,
a clergyman, a union official, or engaged in any activity you may select. To write
a truly successful story, however, you must endow the Hero with four essential
characteristics.
The Hero of a Success Story has a willingness to learn. For the Hero there
is no final graduation - only a series of Commencements that bring with them
new lessons to be mastered.
The Hero of a Success Story has an unending desire to succeed in whatever
he undertakes. The phrase "just as good" is not in his vocabulary. "Better than"
are his favorite words and the yardstick by which he measures his work.
The Hero of a Success Story welcomes responsibility. For just as exercise
develops muscles, so responsibility develops the man or woman. The degree of
your Hero's success will be governed by the responsibility he or she is willing to
shoulder.
The Hero of a Success Story always gives more than he gets. He is too busy
with important things to measure accurately his own worth. His greatest satisfaction comes from being of real service to his fellow men.
It is never too early nor too late to begin your Success Story. Writing it
will not be easy because success is never easily captured. But your chances of
authoring your own Success Story are greater in the United States than they
would be in any other country in the world .
