  • 438 Salem School Dis 8 1890-1892 WKCHS
    A student register with grades attendance, visitors and teacher notes. This school was at Hwy 83 and Cty AH in the northwest corner. It is believed to have been added to to double the size; then moved to immediately west of the Salem Jail at what is now the DeRidder property and then moved again to the Schateen Farm and merged into their big barn. It is very unfortunate that this school register was used also as a scrapbook and recipe book. The information that does prevail is wonderful. It has been said that some Salem school registers are at Parkside. THIS BOOKLET is made of COMBINATION pages where the names are listed once and then there are fractional pages or secondary pages that follow. They have been number page A and Page B.

    This is a collection of printed materials NOT INLCUDING Seeds of Wheatland As with the SEEDS of WHEATLAND, this is a nice collective showing the growth of the students, their names, names of teachers and events that they participated in. It was a School-wide paper to show pride of place and student to the parents. It did include some political material and included material regarding the consolidation efforts. Wonderful history. The pages are not numbered as additional issues may be found and included in addendums Please notice that because of the volume, auto feed was used and some of the lower portions of the page were truncated. A decision was made to reduce the handing of the originals and this slight truncation was the the result. Originals are at the Wheatland Center School Library if the information is required. Each page has been numbered with the year and page number of the individual stapled document. This collective was a variety of sizes and printing methods.

    A student register with grades attendance, visitors and teacher notes. This school was at Hwy C at 45 in the northwest corner which is just about where there is a small pond. Some make comment that this school was moved to the east and about across the street from the Old Bristol Town Hall. It has been confirmed that the teacher of that time, herself, saw this building being burned as part of a practice by the Bristol Fire and other associations of the time.
